LA SABLESIENNE

Since 1962, La Sablésienne has been perpetuating the recipe of the Véritable Petit Sablé pur beurre in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, at the heart of the Pays de la Loire region. The story dates back to July 1670, when Vatel, maître d'hôtel to the Grand Condé, served small round dry cookies at princely tables, to the delight of the King's brother — an origin attested by a letter from Madame de Sévigné, and associated with Magdeleine de Souvré, Marquise de Sablé. The biscuit-maker as we know it today was founded in 1962 by Georges Justier, then taken over in 2003 by Amélie Loret Scherrer, great-granddaughter of a pastry chef and daughter of a biscuit-maker. Passionate about taste, innovation and creativity, she and her team continue the French biscuit-making tradition: biscuits baked on metal sheets and hand-gathered, made from natural ingredients, with no preservatives, colourings or artificial flavourings, and sourced mainly from regional suppliers. Beyond the Petit Sablé, the house has developed a full range of fine gourmet products: sweet and savoury biscuits, meringues and soufflés, langues de chat and fondants, organic and vegan biscuits, chocolates, jams and fruit pastes, confectionery, and teas. These creations are offered in boxes and cases, or gathered into gift boxes and hampers that can be personalised for corporate gifting and hospitality. Our house, already present in several boutiques across western France and in Paris, continues to expand into Asia and the United States. Our sablés travel the world and are available through fine food shops, tea and coffee retailers, prestigious French landmarks (Versailles Castle, Eiffel Tower, Puy du Fou park, etc.), Parisian and European department stores, and hotels and restaurants.
